Pepstatin A is a competitive, reversible aspartic protease inhibitor which inhibits proteases such as pepsin, chymosin, renin, HIV proteases, and cathepsins D and E. Peptstatin A is highly selective and is often used in a mixture with other enzyme inhibitors. In vitro studies have shown pepstatin A is the only aspartic acid inhibitor that exhibits inhibitory effects on HIV proteases.
GoldBio"s Immobilized Pepstatin Agarose Resin can be used for the purification of cathepsins, pepsin, bacterial aspartic proteases, HIV proteases and other molecules that bind pepstatin. The Pepstatin is immobilized on 6% agarose resin that is covalently coupled to pepstatin through a diaminodipropylamine (DADPA) activated spacer arm and has a binding capacity of 1-2 mg pepsin per millimeter of settled resin.
Pepstatin Agarose is supplied as a 50% slurry in 0.5M NaCl and 0.02% thimerosal.
Activity: 1-2 mg pepsin/ml of resin
Resin: 6% Beaded Agarose
