Boc-Val-Gly-Arg-beta-naphthylamide is a colorimetric substrate for plasminogen activator. Plasminogen activators are serine proteases that cleave plasminogen forming active plasmin. Plasmin then degrades the fibrin polymers of blood clots.
Activity is quantified by measuring the release of beta-naphthylamine which absorbs at 344 nm.
