CD40 Ligand (CD40-L), or CD154, is a membrane glycoprotein anddifferentiation antigen expressed on the surface of T cells. TheCD40-L stimulates B-cell proliferation and secretion of allimmunoglobulin isotypes in the presence of cytokines. CD40-L hasbeen shown to induce cytokine production and tumoricidal activityin peripheral blood monocytes. CD40-L also co-stimulatesproliferation of activated T-cells and this is accompanied by theproduction of IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-2.Recombinant mouse CD40Ligand is a non-glycosylated protein, containing 149 amino acidsand having a molecular mass of 16.4 kDa.
