CD40L or CD154 is a membrane glycoprotein and differentiationantigen expressed on the surface of T-cells. The CD40 ligandstimulates B-cell proliferation and secretion of allimmunoglobulin isotypes in the presence of cytokines. CD40 ligandhas been shown to induce cytokine production and tumoricidalactivity in peripheral blood monocytes. It also costimulatesproliferation of activated T-cells and this is accompanied by theproduction of IFN-gamma, TNF-alpha, and IL2. Recombinant HumanCD40L produced in E.coli is a non-glycosylated, Polypeptide chaincontaining 149 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 16,308Daltons. This carrier-free product is a recombinant human proteinexpressed in E. coli.
