PBST (phosphate buffered solution) is a phosphate buffer containing Tween-20, which can provide a relatively stable ionic environment and pH buffering capacity. It is a buffered salt solution often used in biology and is mainly used for immunohistochemistry and in situ In experiments such as hybridization and enzyme-linked immunoassay, wash the western blot membrane and so on. The product is a colorless liquid with a pH of 7.2-7.4 (25°C). The main ingredients are potassium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride and Tween-20.
This product is 10× stock solution and cannot be used directly. It needs to be diluted to 1× working solution. Storage at 4°C can extend the shelf life of the product. Low temperature storage is not recommended for long-term storage.
Precautions
Low temperature storage is easier to produce precipitation. If there is precipitation, please shake or place it in a 37℃ water bath until it is completely dissolved before use.
For your safety and health, please wear lab coats and disposable gloves.
A 10X Concentrated solution of Phosphate Buffered Saline with Tween® 20. The 10X Concentration is 80mM Na2HPO4, 1.5M NaCl, 20mM KH2PO4, 30mM KCl, 0.5% Tween® 20, pH 7.4.
PBST is commonly used as a wash solution for Western blot membranes and microtiter plate wells in ELISA assays. The Phosphate Buffered Saline with Tween® 20 is an optimal formulation of pH stabilizers, salts and detergents designed to effectively remove excess material from membranes and microtiter plate wells without disrupting the antigen/antibody binding reaction.
By maintaining the proper buffering environment, unbound components can be washed away without suppressing antigen-antibody binding interactions, thereby reducing nonspecific background and increasing the specific signal.
